作为一座倚江临海、湖荡棋布的超大城市，上海的湿地不仅是 “地球之肾”，更是东亚—澳大利西亚全球候鸟迁飞路线上至关重要的“能量补给站”，在涵养水源、维护生物多样性、防洪御潮、固碳增汇等方面也发挥着不可替代的作用。

它们主要分布在上海的崇明、浦东、青浦、宝山、金山、奉贤等区，有的是水乡风貌的代表，有的是市民休闲游憩的好去处，在调节区域气候、维护城市生态平衡方面也默默贡献着力量。
